These professions offer individual gameplay styles and ways to complete the quests. In The Sims Medieval, the player controls ten Hero Sims, each with a different profession in the Kingdom. To do so, the player will use Hero Sims to complete quests and build up different Kingdoms. Players are the Watcher, a godlike figure who has returned to aid the Sims of this world. When first opening The Sims Medieval, players are treated to Patrick Stewart narrating their role in this beautiful fantasy land. Yet the game continues to have a strong fanbase within The Sims community and is still worth playing even 11 years later. What should have launched its own franchise was unfortunately abandoned by EA, and The Sims Medieval ended after only one expansion, unlike The Sims 4 many expansion packs. Although the game had its fair share of bugs at release, the unique gameplay offered more than made up for it. Visually The Sims Medieval was a vast improvement on The Sims 3 thanks to the subsurface scattering that the developers added to the Sims models to give them slightly more realistic faces. Imagine for a moment if the Sims and Dungeons & Dragons had a baby that baby would look a lot like The Sims Medieval. The Sims Medieval was similar in gameplay to the Sims Stories games such as The Sims Pet Stories or The Sims Castaway Stories but using The Sims 3 engine. The Sims Medieval was a game that passed many Sims players by when it was released back in 2011, which is a shame because it is a quite entertaining and distinct Sims game.
